Parents Arrested For Students' Absences To California Schools

(KUTV) Parents were arrested after their students fail to show up for school.

It's happening in one California school district.

Officials say they've had to get local police involved when students start racking up un-excused absences.

If letters home and meetings with parents fail to make a difference, the local district attorney is stepping in and citing parents.

And just like any other citation, if the parent fails to show up for court, warrants will be issued for their arrest.

District officials say they're just trying to keep kids in school and out of trouble.
